Audio post-productie en sound design

What is the difference between sound design and music production?

Short answer

Music production is about melody, harmony and rhythm. Sound design covers all other sounds: effects, ambiences and sounds that accompany picture.

Music production is about melody, harmony and rhythm: a composition you experience as music. Sound design covers all other sounds: effects, ambiences and sounds that make a picture believable or exciting. The line sometimes blurs, for example with a sonic logo or a musical soundscape. At TFA, sound designers and composers work together, so effects and music do not compete with each other. Read more about music production.
