Audio post-productie en sound design

What is the difference between Foley and sound effects?

Short answer

Foley is recorded specifically for a scene, in sync with the actors. Sound effects often come from a library, such as an explosion or thunder.

Foley is recorded specifically for a scene, in sync with what the actors do: their footsteps, their clothing and the objects they touch. Sound effects are often existing or designed sounds from a library, such as an explosion, a car or thunder. Foley makes a scene human; effects make it big. In a good mix, they complement each other.
